It can be easy to get lost in thought, especially as we grow older and we gain memories and regrets. Sometimes we can spend an entire day lost in the details of memories, go on entire journeys that revolve around wandering our own minds. All the mistakes we've made, the sins, the embarrassments, and the loves we wish we could have held on to. It can feel like we've run aground, crashing on the rocks of our own memories.

Devil in the details
Out beyond the pines
Behind the starlight
Needles in the night
Casting these dispersions
Hiding under rocks
To find a fitting ending
Regardless of the cost
Shadows buried deep
Find purchase in the dark
Like the thunder of knives
A flash of memory descending
These echoes of a lost love
Finding fires never-ending
Here and then, cut short
Forsaken but not rescinded
I thought this all would work
Rituals rewinding
Setting bones for broken words
And promises remembered
Captured by these mossy stones
Wandering in labyrinthine woes
Temples to a lust in ruins
A flame no longer burning
Longing to be buried here
In a memory enchanting
Where roots are full to bursting
We linger with bones dancing
Images trapped in neuron's flash
A blasted heath left of this heart
A kiss my dear, and then I fall
Indulgence I cannot repent of
Catacombs caked with cosmic dust
Of an eternity where this was resolved
Aches and pains internal
Healed without a second thought
Kaleidoscope superior
Mandala still symmetrical
Patterns I cannot escape
Drowned in haunted ocean waves
Sauntering shockwaves coalesce
Between these touching fingertips
In spirits once entwined
Hours unrefined
Last but not the least
A cavern in the desert
Heartbeat nearly gone
Eyes still luminescent
Burn this until it's wrong
Walking along the tree line
Taking all this in my lungs
Giving Lucifer his dew point
A shore fire way to wreck a ship
Saccharin days in melancholy thoughts
The devil in the details
Here and then, cut short
