Be Kind, Rewind

The Rewound Heart

Bleeding backwards

Into a dying sun

Waning crescent

Descending crescendo

Cascading energetic cycles

Data still backing up

Collapsing, I just hit reset

Still moving back in time

Such sanguine words

Flushed with color

Of how with cheeks like fired coals

I found my feelings grown

And now in ascending order

Listing wonders of your garden

How in sunlight flowers towered

How in darkness you still glow

Scattered orbits like electrons

The pitter-patter pattern starts

Emergent and deeply entangled

Caught between eternity and particle

One kiss for the unlocking

Fluttering wings

Inward I am all tied up

Thinking all these knotty things

Slipping upward

To set off sailing skies

And cast a net in afterglow

Until the sun might rise

Fast fading fires seldom stay

But here my eyes met yours

And this lonely heart did say

A million muttered loving words

With little relief left within

And still nothing to show

I pray and put my blood back in

I swallow down these blushing words

And make a b-line for this horizon

That fleet of foot and in due time

You might bless me with your likeness

In this visionary state of mind

Fears all stuffed and set aside

One foot before another

Hoping I may yet be in stride

And find myself beside you

Putting all this back together

Reconstruct a Universe

Be kind and just rewind

So I can try another tune

Singularity, still crushing

I'd love you past the end itself

I'd run this back just for remembering

And never need another night

So like the moon I shift these phases

Hoping like the sun you'll shine

And let me just reflect your beauty

Still moving back in time
