Ready to Fall

Like a ton of bricks
Like a waterfall
Like an avalanche
Just say the word
I gather my dry heart
Like sticks primed for the kindling
I pray there will be sparks
I wish you'd see me different
I hold this torch and hope
That it casts me in a better light
Worth a chance or just a try
Worth making an offer
I bite my lip the thousandth time
Your beauty still unfathomable
I hold my tongue in spite
Of the way you make my brain light up
Of the fire you might yet ignite
Of the shadow worth dispelling
Of the tale of giving love a chance
A story worth re-telling
I hold my tongue another moment
Try to pack these feelings up
Scribbling hearts against these scraps
My paper heart ready for filling up
Folded up like origami
But I'd bloom if you said the word
Eden in the making
A chance, a love worth taking
Say the word and I'm all in
A star ready for the falling
Your skies are already beautiful
But I want to make them flawless
I wish I could take the stars
And make them dance for you
Give a meaning to their beauty
Draw these constellations new
Make every day a new beginning
Take you dancing on the moon
For someone so beautiful
Deserves more than just this world
Say the word and set this off
My feelings for you haven't changed
And I'll care for you no matter what
Whether or not your answer stays the same
Like summer rain
Awaiting thunder
Patiently
I still remain
Ready to Fall
